Who would have thought the first blog post would be dedicated to My Mom? Oh yes, you are right- everyone could have guessed that.
Today, on August 6th, 2016, we are celebrating a fabulous human being. She is beautiful, inside and out, with a heart of gold. She lights up every room she walks into. Her smile is contagious, and her food will make you fat. (Seriously. Watch out)! She is mentally and physically strong, with a mind packed full of determination. She is my mom, and my mom is my all time role model.
Well, the day was simply perfect. The typical “Is anyone up yet?” text came through the Fam Group Message around 10:30 from the one and only herself. She was ready to get this day started, as usual. We decided that our minds could use some quiet and our bodies could use some moving, so we packed up and drove to a bike trail.
But first, we stopped for lunch. You know, because everyone should fill up before riding a bike for miles and miles. Maybe not a great idea, but oh well.
Just to give you an idea of how it started, I ran into a gate before we even got on the actual trail. A pro? Of course.
Will? Well, he needed a break at the first bench we saw. And mom bought four waters, but left them at the bike shop. Thank you, fifty year old brain, for kicking in on the very first day. I’ll be keeping my eye on you. DPy was cracking jokes. The. Whole. Time.

Exercise is important at every single age; it never gets old. We may, but exercise will continue to do us good. And that is why, on her fiftieth birthday, we got our heart rates up- to kick off the next fifty years of healthy.
Aside from the bumps to get there, the ride was wonderful and refreshing. The weather was perfect, and the company was better. After all, a family that {chooses to} sweat together, stays together. Needless to say, I love my family and the things we do to live a happy && healthy lifestyle.
No no no, we did not just take her on a bike ride for a milestone birthday. We returned home to get dressed up, and spoil her like crazy. She deserves it.
When I am fifty, I hope to have done life like she has, with no intentions of stopping soon. Oh, and I hope to look as good as she does. She is pretty good looking for an old lady, am I right? Here’s to Fifty more Fabulously Fit years, Mom! I’m along for the ride (or hike, or walk, or run- you tell me)!
Happy Birthday, lovely.
P.S. Since it was her birthday, all of the calories are on her, right? (Hey, good thing we biked:))
